Okay, here's the story...
After a childhood that included a dozen years as a drum and bugle corps rat, learning the fine art of precision rudimental drumming, I started playing professionally in 1968 in northwestern Indiana and made my living as a drummer and a vocalist for the next 25 years. Among lots of other things, those years also included 10 years "on the road" with lounge shows, 3 years of theater and studio work in Chicago, and many years of club dates, corporate events, and studio work in the Minneapolis area. Then, in 1995, I stopped playing, shortly after my first wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. The next several years were an ordeal that did not allow for the time-consuming and traveling life of a full-time musician. At that point, I started making my living as an independent corporate video producer. However, after her death in 2000, I once again began accepting a few offers to play in local variety shows and dinner theater productions in the Minneapolis area. About a year after my wife's death, I had the good fortune to meet a wonderful woman in a grief support group. We were soon married; and then, various personal and business decisions eventually led us to relocate to North Carolina. At first, we picked Durham, in order to be in a metro area for video work. Then, having decided that it's time to be true to myself, I returned to the music business that had been such an important part of my life for so many years. As a result, we relocated to Southern Pines so that I can be more centrally located to all the population centers in the Carolinas and therefore, increase my performance opportunities. I'm seeking musicians and/or bands the region who might have a need for what I have to offer.... I have excellent rhythm, I'm versatile, I can sing, and I'm a team player. I'm available for big bands, oldies bands, beach bands, jazz combos, dixieland bands, country-rock bands... whatever. For me, working with good players is more important than what type of music I play. I'm open to any suggestions and possibilities, and I'd love the chance to discuss them with you. For a chronological listing of my career, see the "experience" page. |
